Ruffled Feathers: Hay Bales and Farm Tales Book 1

Griffin is the only goose on Windy Willow Farm, and he's not happy about it.

Each day is always the same . . . but not today. "I'm leaving," Griffin said, "and don't try to stop me!" As he leaves the barn, he hopes to find what he thinks is missing in his life. But . . . a BIG surprise is waiting for him. It doesn't take long for him to realize that today is not going as planned.

Join Griffin the lonely goose on a heart-warming journey of hope and determination as he searches for his family and a place to call home. Ruffled Feathers is the first book in the Hay Bales and Farm Tales series about family, friends, and farm life adventures.

Ruffled Feathers by Susan Pierson teaches children that family is where love comes together no matter what you look like.

Griffin Goose leaves his farm in search of his "goose family" because he feels alone as the only goose on the farm. When he starts his journey, he believes "family" means everyone looks the same. Along his journey, he meets wonderful characters and makes new friends. In the end, Griffin learns the meaning of family is very different than what he'd first thought.

With a backdrop of fabulous artwork, depicting each scene with vibrant colors and details, Ruffled Feathers comes alive with each turn of the page. It's a wonderful story to read with children. At the end of the book, the author has discussion questions to help your child dive into a deeper comprehension of the story.

I picked up the Ruffled Feathers book because I was attracted to the art on the cover. All the art on each page is delightful. It seems a bit rare to find this degree of beautiful artwork in children's books. I bought the book because I think my 8-year-old grandson will enjoy it. I just read it and enjoyed this wonderful storybook.
